The Ultimate Guide to Getting in Shape at the Beach

As many of you already know, the beach is my favorite happy spot. There's nothing quite like working out at the beach. As I always say, make it fun. The fresh air, the sound of the waves, and the beautiful scenery can make any workout more enjoyable. And because the sand provides a natural resistance, beach workouts can be more challenging than traditional workouts on a hard surface.

In this blog post, we'll share some of our favorite beach fitness activities. We'll also provide tips on how to get the most out of your beach workouts and stay safe in the sun.

1. Beach sprints

Sprints are a great way to get a quick cardio workout in. Simply find a straight stretch of sand and sprint as fast as you can for 30 seconds. Then, rest for 30 seconds and repeat. Do 3-5 sets of sprints. The soft surface will help you burn more calories while enjoying the natural benefits of the sunlight. Additionally, the beach is a relaxing environment which can help to reduce stress and anxiety. The resistance of the sand will help you strengthen your muscles. This is especially beneficial for the muscles in your legs, glutes, and core.

2. Beach lunges

Lunges are a great way to work your legs and glutes. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and step forward with one leg, lowering your body until both knees are bent at a 90-degree angle. Keep your back straight and your core engaged. Do 10-15 lunges per leg. Beach lunges will help you improve your balance as well as mobility while reducing your risk of injury.

3. Beach squats

Squats are another great way to work your legs and glutes. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and lower your body until your thighs are parallel to the ground. Keep your back straight and your core engaged. Do 10-15 squats.

4. Beach push-ups

Push-ups are a great way to work your chest, triceps, and shoulders. Find a sturdy surface on the sand and get into push-up position. Lower your body until your chest touches the sand and then push yourself back up. Do 10-15 push-ups.

5. Beach burpees

Burpees are a great full-body workout. To do a burpee, start in a standing position. Then, squat down and place your hands on the ground in front of you. Jump your feet back into a push-up position and do a push-up. Jump your feet back up to your hands and then jump into the air, extending your arms overhead. Do 10-15 burpees.

6. Beach yoga

Yoga is a great way to improve your flexibility and strength. There are many different yoga poses that you can do on the beach. Find a comfortable spot on the sand and start practicing your favorite poses.

7. Beach swimming

Swimming is a great way to get a full-body workout and cool off on a hot day. Simply swim laps in the ocean or play some water games with your friends. Be careful of the rip tides!

8. Beach volleyball

Beach volleyball is a great way to get a cardio workout and have some fun. Find a few friends and set up a volleyball net in the sand. Play a few games and enjoy the competition. Also a great way to build camaraderie among friends a fabulous way to make new friends.

9. Beach walking

Beach walking is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the scenery. Simply walk along the beach for 30 minutes or more. Sunsets are the best on the beach!

10. Beach running

Beach running is a great way to get a cardio workout and enjoy the scenery. Simply run along the beach for 30 minutes or more. For those that might have some aches and pains, the beach run is much easier on the knees, back, and feet.

These are just a few of the many beach fitness activities that you can do. With so many options to choose from, you're sure to find something that you enjoy. So get out there and start working out at the beach!

Tips for staying safe in the sun:

  • Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 70 or higher.
  • Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside and reapply every two hours, or more often if you're sweating or swimming.
  • Wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your face and eyes.
  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. I highly recommend pre hydrating. Ig you feel thirsty you are already in the early stages of dehydration.
  • Take breaks from the sun in the middle of the day, when the sun's rays are strongest.
  • Seek shade when possible.
  • Be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

By following these tips, you can stay safe and enjoy your beach workouts. Feel free to comment, like, follow, and share!
